TAKING THE NEXT STEP

One’s relationship to nature is a deeply personal experience, whether it’s a walk in the park, or along the river, or under a summer night’s sky, or whether it’s running the Loop or working in a Community Garden. In every case, I think, the common theme is an awareness of beauty. People who can see this beauty in things tend to be happier people even in the face of challenges and more likely to create a world that preserves this beauty.

At the same time our relationship to nature is also a collective reality. In other words, we also need to have structures and institutions with policies that preserve and cultivate the beauty of nature, as our present challenges highlight so dramatically.

We already know what to do, and, in fact, have a Climate Action Plan that is seen as a model for other regions. However, plans need people and people need spirit. Some of us are looking for simple but effective ways to breathe this spirit of beauty and connection into our personal and collective lives here in our own region.

Join us at the Summer Solstice event to celebrate the beauty of nature and discover simple but effective ways to preserve it together.
